"Fun Bunch Racing" A Family That Races Together Stays Together (Photo & Story Submitted by Angie Tibbs - Fun Bunch Racing) Starting in the 1980s, five brothers started a legacy, Willie, Jimmy, Ricky, Bobby, and Ray Tibbs. Oldest brother Willie started racing for a close friend in a Buick named “Old Gold.” Soon after Ricky followed in a 1973 Gremlin, he titled “The Fun Bunch.” Jimmy joined in with a 1969 Mustang “Fun Bunch 2.” Willie became owner of “Old Gold” and renamed the car “Fun Bunch 3.” After years of racing, with the support of family they too began to gain interest in the sport. Ray became a driver as well. Willie was called home and laid to rest in 2001, his legacy lives on, Bobby continues inside of the Buick. Ricky is the owner and driver of his 2 Ford Thunderbirds and cousin Andyman Tibbs driver of his Gremlin. Ray owner and driver of his Camero, nephew Sherman Terrell driver and owner of Fun Bunch’s number two ‘69 Mustang, brother-in-law Steve Barbour owner of the Fun Bunch Vega, driver nephew Arthur Newman, Sherman’s father-in-law Kenny Cox owner and driver of his Ford Thunderbird. The Fun Bunch started their journey in their hometown Manassas, Virginia at Old These brothers are some of the most hard-working men you could meet. They have a bond On the up and coming, Bobby Tibbs is on to the start of the second generation of Fun Bunch Racing with son in the Fun Bunch jr. dragster. We look forward to a long and “fun” journey ahead of us. |
