"Fun Bunch Racing" A Family That Races Together Stays Together
(Photo & Story Submitted by Angie Tibbs - Fun Bunch Racing)

Starting in the 1980s, five brothers started a legacy, Willie, Jimmy, Ricky, Bobby, and Ray Tibbs.

Oldest brother Willie started racing for a close friend in a Buick named “Old Gold.”
Soon after Ricky followed in a 1973 Gremlin, he titled “The Fun Bunch.”  Jimmy
joined in with a 1969 Mustang “Fun Bunch 2.”  Willie became owner of “Old Gold” and
renamed the car “Fun Bunch 3.”  After years of racing, with the support of family they
too began to gain interest in the sport.  Ray became a driver as well.  Willie was
called home and laid to rest in 2001, his legacy lives on, Bobby continues inside of the Buick.

At this point there is a train of the “Fun Bunch.”  Jimmy owner of 2 cars, Mike Dodson
close friend and driver of his Pontiac Firebird, and Brandon Hogan close friend and
driver of his other Firebird.  Ricky is the owner and driver of his 2 Ford Thunderbirds
and cousin Andyman Tibbs driver of his Gremlin.  Ray owner and driver of his Camero,
nephew Sherman Terrell driver and owner of Fun Bunch’s number two ‘69 Mustang,
brother-in-law Steve Barbour owner of the Fun Bunch Vega, driver nephew Arthur
Newman, Sherman’s father-in-law Kenny Cox owner and driver of his Ford Thunderbird.

The Fun Bunch started their journey in their hometown Manassas, Virginia at Old
Dominion Speedway and continued on to other tracks including Sumerduck, Colonial Beach,
Eastside, and Maryland International.  They have a host of family and crew behind
them no matter where they race.  Special thanks always given to Billy Caudle f or
building the engines that got these brothers started and 30 years later they are still going.

These brothers are some of the most hard-working men you could meet.  They have a bond
that cannot be broken, with big hearts that are always willing to lend a hand never
turning their backs on each other, and always there for one another.  Win or lose,
they love the sport just as much as they do each other.  They remain committed to enjoying themselves and making the best out of what they do.  They truly put the “fun” in “Fun Bunch.”

On the up and coming, Bobby Tibbs is on to the start of the second generation of Fun Bunch Racing with son in the Fun Bunch jr. dragster.  We look forward to a long and “fun” journey ahead of us.
