Mr. Johnny Brooks aka The GODFATHER OF STREET RODS, Mr. Brooks started his career 1955 at a dragstrip called Old Dominion speedway when the track was still dirt in both lanes. After several years at manassas racing, Mr. Brooks and 1950 oldsmobile found their way to Long Island new york dragstrip and he traded his car for a 1964 Ford Fairlane he named the Funky Chicken and that was when he really started making a name for himself by setting the track record at Long Island Raceway and later to follow up with his most memorable moment in racing at the 1969 summer nationals in Englishtown New Jersey. Everyone was shocked because The Funky Chicken had set the national record and Mr. Brooks was overwhelmed with joy on that day. He still puts his racing skills to work even today helping his son Greg Brooks and many other racers and street rodders across the country. Mr. Brooks gets his most enjoyment watching kids and grown ups at the fund raisers and carshows he attends and other events he does for himself or with other clubs. Mr Brooks enjoys every moment of watching people big and small as they smile checking out the cars. He truly believes the world can be a better place if everyone knows, they to can also live the same dream he has for the last 60 year around cars and great people from all walks of life.
Rodney D. Chandler Aka SLIM this gentleman is known as The Man when it comes to getting people down a race track , he started in 1960 and still today has a strong list of drivers he has help win races and smile with personal best runs under their belt. Very humble at his duties but fierce when its time to race he believes only in winning. Slims most memorable moments were Amar winning the Frantic seven one night at Budds Creek and Then The Personal Best For Mr. Brooks of 6.60 seconds at Budds Creek as well! Slim wrenching abilities are still the reason he helps racers today to live out their winning dreams in a sport he cherishes.
Mr. Johnny Long aka Scorpion started his racing career in 1954 with a 51 mercury called creeping vine, were he race a Aquaso Raceway, Colonial Beach, Manassas, and Capitol raceway were he was a fan favorite. Then he had various cars but his most memorable was his B-modified production camaro Scorpion that was a real competitor in its time at Budds Creek and Hagerstown along with cecil county. Then Johnny Long got the called to no longer wrench on racecars but to drive a pro stock called running scared and shortly after Johnny started driving D.C.'s most known Pro Stocker The Cisco Kid, he race against Grumpy Jenkins Dyno Don Nicholson, Roy Hill Sox and Martin right at capitol raceway quite a few times in his career driving this awesome car. Johnny still has that twinkle in his eye for drag racing today, but it comes from helping others even 50 years later which shows why he's still a true pioneer in drag racing!
Raymond Kenneth Campfield, affectionately known as "Carburetor Kenny", without a doubt, lived, breathed, and loved every aspect of the world of Drag Race. A hard worker from a very early age, Kenny began working with cars at the age of 8!!! A strong work ethic, drive and determination would never be strangers to Kenny as he went on to purchase his first race car, a 1968 Baracuda, with a bag of quarters. He and his brothers established the Campfield Brothers Racing Team in 1970, carving their mark in the racing community for 40+ years. Overtime his career would yield many regarding him as a genius for his superb knowledge and performance of rebuilding motors and rear ends, and his special niche, carburetors. He acquired many clienteles who not only loved him for his talent and excellent service, but also for the dynamic man they grew to know him to be. Kenny was a devoted husband and loved his family and friends dearly. His presence is dearly missed yet never forgotten, and just As he would have it, you can still hear him humming down race tracks all over the country!... QuarterMileBrothers would like to extend Congratulations to Geneva Williams, Johnny Brooks, Rodney Chandler, Johnny Long and the Campfield Family (in memory of Kenny Campfield).
